Richard Brunson

Richard Brunson - Directing Musical Ensembles and Teaching

Richard Brunson is a longtime music educator whose most recent position was as an associate professor with an Indiana College. Working with the Community School of the Arts, Richard Brunson instructed elementary music methods and taught aural skills, while supervising student teachers and directing orchestras on campus.

Dr. Brunson also served as Central Chamber Chorale artistic director in Marshfield, Wisconsin, from 2017 to 2023. Each December and May he coordinated joint concerts that brought together the Marshfield Symphony Orchestra, Community Singers, and Concert Choir. During this time, he served as Faith Lutheran Church choir director and oversaw the selection of singers and arrangement of choral pieces for worship.

Dr. Brunson is active with the International Conductors Guild and presented at its 2025 London conference. He is currently working on a research project: “Ralph Vaughan Williams & J.R.R. Tolkien: Uniquely English Modernists.” Richard Brunson has earned accolades such as second place in the London Classical Soloists Orchestra’s Conducting Competition.
